Hi, I’m Kelli!
It’s great to meet you and I’m so glad that you’re here.
You and I have traveled similar paths, so I have a pretty good sense that you feel anxious, worried, overwhelmed, and perhaps even afraid.
Because food was such a focal point and source of comfort in my family growing up, I figured it could help with my anxiety and lack of confidence too.
Well, I was wrong.
Not having a clue about how else to cope and feeling way too ashamed to reach out for help, I suffered for many, many years. Trying to calm my anxiety and feel better about myself turned into a decade of binging, purging, starving, and treating myself really badly. I could have died and thankfully, I didn’t.
Eventually, I did reach out for help. Except the help that I received wasn’t what I needed. It was attached to well-meaning clinical agendas that didn’t take the time to get to know me, my story, and what I really needed.
I even tried medication, but it totally numbed me out and only made me feel worse…and coming off the medication was excruciating. I was an emotional hot mess!
After years of struggling and looking to others to fix me, I took my mental, emotional, and physical health into my own hands and healed from the inside out through a combination of alternative, holistic, and functional health and lifestyle practices, and cleaning up my thinking.
In other words, there’s more than one path up the mountain and the journey to the top must be enjoyable and lead to gratifying results. I have climbed the mountain and the view from the top is breathtaking!
I’m a professor turned certified coach with expertise in mental and emotional health, generalized anxiety, disordered eating, and the art and science of how to feel better and live well.
I have a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision and have trained counselors for over twenty years. I am also a certified Life and Weight Coach through The Life Coach School, an ADAPT Certified Functional Health Coach through Kresser Institute, and NBHWC certified.
In my private coaching practice, I help women learn how to calm their mind and emotions compassionately so they can heal their relationship with food and live well.
When I’m not teaching, coaching, and evolving into the best version of myself, you will find me hanging out with my amazing family, which includes our furry four-legged friends, reading, gardening (when it’s not winter!), and singing and dancing to old R & B. My favorite treats include really dark chocolate with sea salt and almond, nuts all of kinds, and anything coconut. Life is amazing. It can be for you too! I hope you’ll join me.
